Zappos goofs up with mega-discounts, but honors prices (Christopher Null)

Christopher Null – Bargain hunters got a big bonus over the weekend when 6pm.com, part of the Zappos.com shoe-centric empire (which is now part of Amazon.com), goofed up on its online pricing.6pm.com is already a discount-oriented website, but on May 21, those discounts got bigger when a bug capped most products’ prices at $49.95 — lopping off a huge amount of cash from the price tag. (Lower prices remained unchanged.) Not too shabby for a site where a handbag can run $300 or more. Users noticed and started buying.
